The Arch

Designed by F. Ferdinand Durang in 1930, the “south entrance gateway” (now affectionately known as The Arch) was contracted along with the east and west wings finished by 1931-1932.  Forty-Fort Sordoni Construction Co. performed the construction work on the Arch. The left turret cross appears to have disappeared sometime between 1950 and early 1970s. Restoration was done to masonry in 2001. A new Celtic cross was placed atop the left turret in 2013. Restoration to reinforce the Arch's interior terra cotta structure was completed between September and November 2017.
