Coat of Arms

Coats of arms are heraldic designs that is the central piece of what is called the achievement, which includes the shield as well as the motto, crest, and supporters. Heraldic designs were on way of identifying one’s family; there are rules as to whom can use the coat of arms and how. A coat of arms identifies a family’s history and its ideal virtues. Organizations also have coats of arms: common today as part of modern branding identities, a college or university’s coat of arms traditionally have represented an institution's core values.

In 1964, an article in the Miss Recordia characterized College Misericordia has having “engaged in battle against ignorance” and displayed its own coat of arms proudly like knights from the Middle Ages. The Misericordia coat of arms has been part of the school seal since 1957.

Coat of Arms
