Talented athletes shone on the Misericordia basketball teams during the 1950s. Coach Marie Morris encouraged individual ability, but also emphasized the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship, on and off the court. In a 1955 article for the Miss Recordia, Morris expressed a desire for her athletes to celebrate their victories and learn from their defeats: "No matter how skilled or excelled ina sport a girl may be she certainly cannot be classified as an athlete until she has the proper understanding of true sportsmanship and the ability to apply it to the game." Following are a few of Misericordia's cagers from the 1950s.
